The martial art players and its coach from Pokhara have expressed their dissatisfaction over the Nepalese Government and the National Sports Council saying that they haven't been providing any moral and other supports to the players.
Talking to us, Sangita Lama- 17 and Susma Gurung- 18 said that they remained unable to take part in a martial art championship that held in Japan few months ago. Since the government didn't help them, they had to back to home from Tribhuvan International Airport with full of tears in their eyes. As a result they missed World Siterio Karate Championship that was organized by Japan Karate Federation.
According to them, they didn't get any financial support from the government side so that they couldn't fly for Japan even though they were selected via their own initiatives for the championship. Martial art coach Fatta Bahadur Gurung accused the government of remaining careless in their cases. Since the government didn't come with any support in their case, such behave of government hurts the players very badly. Sangita and Susma are those players who last year bagged first prize in their respective weight-group in the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Karate Championship that held in Haidrabad of India. "The credit of our victory goes to our coach Fatta," said Sangita. Fatta is actually providing trainings of martial art to them including other students. Both players are black belts in Karate and won numbers of championships that held in Nepal and few in aboard. According to Susma Gurung, even being a female player, she has not been facing any problems during their trainings and championships.
They both criticized the government that it didn't help them to go Japan for the championship. "Government could manage funds if it wished," they said. They have been learning and playing Karate for 5 years and are the students of government formal education. Sangita is studying in class 10 in Sanskrit Higher Secondary School in Bhimkalipatan, Pokhara while Susma is a proficiency certificiate level student. Susma also works as a Karate coach at SOS Bahini in Lakeside of Pokhara. They remain busy in the morning time for their daily trainings and go to school in daytime. Her brother motivated Sangita while Susma is from her sister to come in the field of Karate. "We always are getting support from our parents," they said.

Urs words are 101% true. People wont know you by quality in Nepal. Same thing happened with me and now i am away from family from past 5 years in this unknown world....
Arjun Gurung was the pioneer in starting karate in Pokhara, who was later killed by some thugs in Narayani Zone while in the search of Mani.
There were several others who joined Karate, and Taekwon Do ....
Good luck to Pokhara. G.Pokhey http://www.Pokhara.biz/ P.S. If any one is interested in ownership of Pokhara.biz domain, please send your request to me with a plan what you would like to do with this website.
Nepal is like this... If the players were the son and daughters of the ministers or the directors of the sport council, then only you could go to japan. Last time also only the political leader's children were selected for Japan. No one is going to know you by the talent you posses, they simple are going to hunt for the big names associated with you .. if they can find then you get opportunities otherwise just few words of sympathy.... God, when will our country changed?.. Take my suggestion.. try aboard.. You will have lots of opportunities if you can prove yourself .
