Anna Goodale Trip to NEPAL Rowing is a sport in which athletes race against each other on river, lakes or on the ocean, depending upon the type of race and the discipline. The boats are propelled by the reaction forces on the oar blades as they are pushed against the water. The sport can be both recreational, focusing on learning the techniques required, and competitive where overall fitness plays a large role. It is also one of the oldest Olympic sports. In the United States and Canada, high school and collegiate rowing is sometimes referred to as crew.

Anna Goodale Trip to NEPAL
After getting victory in the olympic, Anna Goodale came to Nepal accompanied by her Father, Brother and Sister. Her trip was assisted by "My Trip Adventure", a trekking agency in Nepal.
Anna expressed her excitement when she thought of travelling in Nepal. She came to pokhara and than she hiked the Royal Trekking route of the kaski district. Than she went to Bandipur and Chitwan.
When asked to show her medal, she used to ask the medal with her father and show it with great excitement. Her father with a smiling face would say that he was here to protect the gold medal that his daughter had won. Her family was so friendly and Anna herself was charming and happy.
Great in the eight
Anna Goodale makes her Olympic debut in Beijing, rowing in the eight. On the national team for three years, she has been no stranger to gold: In both 2006 and 2007, she was a member of the eight that won gold at Worlds, as well as the Head of the Charles in Boston. In 2005 and 2006, they won gold at the Henley Royal Regatta, as well.
 Instant connection
Her first day on campus at Syracuse University, Goodale was approached by a member of the varsity crew team, who asked her to try rowing. Goodale, who never thought of rowing as a competitive sport, decided to give it a try. "I still remember the smell of the erg room as I sat on the floor at the first informational meeting," she said. "It wasn't long before I was sitting on an erg about to do my first 2k." Goodale enjoyed the sport right away, and rowed all four years at Syracuse, where she was a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-American, a National Scholar Athlete and a Big East Academic All-Star. She graduated in 2005 with a degree in illustration.

Artistic background
Great, great, granddaughter of the renowned 1920s illustrator Charles Dana Gibson, Goodale has always enjoyed working with different artistic mediums: everything from metal-smithing and ceramics, to jewelry-making, to painting and drawing. It's no surprise that when she got to college, she realized she wanted to pursue art as a career. It was illustration she chose to study because she says "it combines hands-on creativity with the business side of art." While training for the Olympics, she is working on illustrating her first children's book, called Wren's Summer Day.
 Down on the farm
Aside from her artistic lineage, Goodale attributes her sense for the aesthetic to growing up on a farm in Maine. With her younger brother, Abe, Goodale worked on the farm: "For the first years of my life I learned about raising animals, growing vegetables, tapping trees for syrup, making honey, canning food and baling hay." Until she was nine years old, she was home-schooled by her mother, who she says, "Gave us the opportunity to discover a passion for learning for ourselves."
 Learning to row, sort of
An active kid, Goodale didn't participate in organized sports until she was in high school. She always enjoyed swimming, and she would ride horses and play catch with her father and brother around the farm. She remembers learning how to row dinghys at an early age. "My father likes to claim that he is the one who taught me how to row," she said. "Though rowing a dinghy is very different than rowing a racing shell."
 Fan club
Goodale's family is her biggest network of support. Goodale is the oldest of four: Her brother Abe is 23, newly graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism; Adrianna is 10 and Jesse is nine. Additionally, 14 members of her family will head to Beijing to cheer Anna on, including three aunts and her grandmother.
 New horizons
After the Olympics Goodale will fly south to Nepal with her family. Then she heads home for a friend's wedding, only to turn around for a backpacking trip through Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam with her brother. Eventually, she plans on returning to Princeton to train.
