“It is allowed to not take part in the polls or even protest for that matter,” said Gautam speaking at a programme in Kathmandu on Tuesday. “Elections will go ahead even if Baidya and Yadav do not take part. They themselves will be accountable for that.”

The former Home Minister said that the demands put forth by the disgruntled parties could in no way be addressed.

Gautam went on to claim that the slated CA poll s will take place despite the warning from the opposing parties to disrupt the election.

“Election will happen despite the warnings,” said the UML leader,” Those who go against the polls will have to face the public.”

In another context, Gautam claimed that the number of CA seats cannot exceed 491 as the parties have already reached an agreement regarding the same.

Though the parties had earlier agreed to slash the CA seats from 601 to 491 this time, parties are mulling to increase the CA seats under the Proportional Representation system, hoping to appease the poll-opposing parties.

चुनाव विथोल्ने धम्की दिए पनि मंसिर ४ गते संविधानसभाको निर्वाचन भएरै छाड्ने दृढता गौतमले ब्यक्त गरे । ‘जति धम्कि दिए पनि निर्वाचन हुन्छ । निर्वाचनको विरोधमा जानेले जनतासाग भिड्नु पर्छ,’ जनता उठ्दा बादशाह हारेको उल्लेख गर्दै उनले भने, ‘निर्वाचनमा भाग नलिने आफैं जनताको अघि जवाफदेही हुनु पर्छ ।’

गौतमले पहिला नै सहमति भएर संविधान संसोधन भइसकेकोले अब कुनै पनि हालतमा संविधानसभाको संख्या ६०१ हुन नसक्ने दाबी गर्दै पहिला नै सहमति भइसकेको कुरालाई अहिले आएर उल्ट्याउन खोज्नु अस्थिरतता निम्त्याउने खेलामात्र भएको आरोप लगाए ।

Talking to Nepali Community at Narita International Airport in Tokyo on Tuesday morning before being admitted to the hospital, President Yadav said that he was fine and urged his well wishers not to worry about his health.

“I don’t have such critical health problem, I am completely fine,” Nepali journalist Ritu Kumar Dura told eKantipur, quoting the president,.

“I am here for a medical check-up,” he added.

President Yadav was welcomed by Nepali ambassador to Japan Dr Madan Kumar Bhattarai and NRN Japan Chairman Om Gurung, among others.

President Yadav had left for Japan on Monday afternoon for medical treatment after preliminary tests detected a lesion in his large intestine.

On Saturday, a team of doctors had advised President Yadav, 70, be taken abroad for further diagnosis and treatment after a CT-Scan report showed ‘some problem’ in his large intestine. On the recommendation of the medical board under the Ministry of Health, the government on Sunday approved his medical trip to Japan and decided to cover all medical expenses

Yadav, who has been suffering from a gastrointestinal infection for some time, has undergone several tests both here and in India.

With the support of SNV Nepal and funding by the UK Department for International Development DFID / UKAid, the GHTDP aims to help channel tourists and pro-poor tourism investments to less visited and under-developed districts, thereby spreading tourism benefits more widely among impoverished mountain communities.

Tara Air has played a key role in improving accessibility to remote hill and mountain regions thereby positioning new and emerging destinations on the tourist map.

“We believe that tourism plays a significant role in rural economy. Tara Air is the only means of transportation to some of the remotest regions. It will also be one of the numerous corporate social responsibility programmes that our group is doing to help the society in every little way we can,” said Tara Air general manager Umesh Chandra Rai.

“We want to help the people of virgin trekking sectors by bringing in tourist, which will generate employment and income. Tara Air is working with other partners, in this case – with GHTDP – to make it happen.’’

Tara Air will include GHT information in its entire origin and destination airport boarding passes and distribute GHT information flyers, posters and route maps through Tara Air and Yeti Airlines seat pocket.

This initiative will accelerate and extend GHT’s visibility among the large number of domestic and international tourists who fly with Tara Air and Yeti Airlines.

The two tourism organisations anticipate that this joint venture will foster the creation of new medium/small and micro-enterprise businesses and will help strengthen existing businesses in the remote hill and mountain districts.

Mim Hamal, GHTDP team leader said, “GHT is a remarkable adventure product and we are hopeful that this partnership will most certainly help to improve the overall tourism industry by attracting tourists to the new destinations.’’

“The whole idea of joining hands with GHT is to promote other destinations which are equally beautiful and enthralling which would help grow the tourism sector in our country,” said Ram Kumar Shrestha, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

He further added that The Great Himalaya Trail is one of the longest and highest Trekking trails in the world. The 1,700 km route connects popular treks in the Annapurna and Everest regions with exciting new trekking destinations from Taplejung in the East to Humla and Darchula in the West.

Massive flood in Mahakali River since three days has created havoc in the districts including Darchula, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Humla and Nawalparasi.

The flood ed water has swept away nine offices, 24 houses and 17 makeshift huts in Darchula district. A house, one temple and a guest house has also been swept away by the flood at Sri Bazar near Darchula headquarters Khalanga. It has also swept away 53 Kilowatt Kalagadh Hydro Power.

Issuing a press statement, the MoHA has informed that the administration has been trying its best to move the locals to safe land to minimise further damage.

Rescue operation is underway with the help of local administration, security personnel and local youths in the district.

Likewise, the MoHA has said that a team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Red Cross, and locals have been able to rescue 23 people who were stranded at Titreyaghat area in Bhimdarshan Municipality-13 of Kanchanpur district.

Meanwhile, the ministry has informed that four people have gone missing in a landslide at Hilsa of Humla district and that the search is underway.

एकपक्षीय र सुनियोजित ढंगले ढोका खोलिएको भन्दै उनीहरुले आपत्ति ब्यक्त गरेका छन् । मंगलवार बिहान जिल्लाका कृयाशिल सबैजसो राजनीतिक दलका प्रतिनिधिहरुको आकस्मिक बैठक बसेको थियो । नेपाली प्रशासनलाई समेत जानकारी नदिएर भारतले परियोजनाका ढोका खोल्दा सदरमुकाममा धनजनको अत्याधिक क्षति भएकाले यो घटनाको अन्र्तराष्ट्रिय स्तरबाटै छानबिन हुनुपर्ने निष्कर्ष दल प्रतिनिधिहरुले निकालेको दार्चुलाका पत्रकार नरेन्द्र कार्कीले टेलिफोनमा बताएका छन् ।

दार्चुलाका प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारीले भारतीय समकक्षिलाई टेलिफोन गर्दा नउठाएको भन्दै उनीहरुले आपत्ति ब्यक्त गरे । ढोका खोल्नु अघि भारतीय पक्षले आफ्ना नागरिकहरुलाई माइकिङ गरेर त्यसको जानकारी दिएको तर नदी वारिका नेपालीहरुलाई त्यसको समयमै खबर नगरिदा बिनासले ठुलो क्षति पुगेको दलका प्रतिनिधिहरुको भनाई छ ।

भारतले सन् १९९९ मा महाकालीको सहायक धौलिगंगामा निर्माण गरेको परियोजनाको नेपाली नागरिकहरुले बिरोध गर्दै आएका छन् । उनीहरुले वातावरणिय प्रभाव मूल्यांकनको बेवास्ता गर्दै सीमा नदीमा प्रतिकुल प्रभाव पर्ने ढंगले परियोजना निर्माण गरेका थिए । त्यसले गर्दा बेलाबेलामा महाकाली नदीको प्राकृतिक बहाव रोकिने गरेको छ । यसअघि पनि ऐलागाड नजिक महाकाली थुनिदा समस्या भएको थियो ।
